First Attempt at Podcasting My Blog

Well, I thought I'd give it a try .... podcasting my blog, that is.  Odiogo.com seemed a good service to test out.  It uses text-to-voice technology to produce a podcast of each post on my blog.  You can then listen to the podcast directly or download it to whatever mp3 playback software / device you use.

My conclusion? Fail.  While I love the ease at which these podcasts are created (after adding the widget, which took all of about 3 minutes), I am quite opposed to how they sound.  What is written gets lost in podcast translation because of the absence of human inflections, etc. at all the right points.

Solution? Consider creating mp3s for each post then upload for listening / downloading.

When will this solution be implemented? Its a minor priority so no real time frame comes to mind.  Until then, enjoy the existing text-to-speech podcasts or read the post directly.  Oh, and no matter which way you go with it, be sure to leave a comment as it could encourage some very good discussions.

  1. so .... it didn't work. Oh well, better luck next time. The search continues for a workable method for podcasting. :)

  3. Skype's good for creating conversation podcasts, but where are you storing them? And what if what you want is just your voice? I don't know if Skype does that.

Thus far I am thinking Audacity for creating. I just need to find a host and I think it'll be good. :)
